Privacy Policy

Last updated October 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how The Gettysburg Book Project, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects and uses information when you visit this website, the official site for the documentary The Gettysburg Book: A Father, Son & The Killer Angels (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information such as your name, address or payment details through this Site.

When you visit, certain information is collected automatically through Google Analytics. This may include your IP address (which Google processes to estimate general location), device and browser type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and links clicked. This information helps us understand how visitors use the Site; it does not tell us who you are.

2. Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies (small text files stored by your browser) to distinguish visitors and sessions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The Site will continue to work without them.

3. Google services we use

Google Analytics measures Site traffic and usage in aggregate. Google’s use of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy; you can learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out of Google Analytics on all websites, install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google Search Console shows us how the Site appears in Google Search results, for example which search terms lead people here. It reports aggregated search data and does not place cookies on your device or identify individual visitors.

4. How we use information

We use analytics data only to understand which content is most useful, improve the Site, and see how visitors find us. We do not sell, rent or trade this information, and we do not use it for advertising.

5. Embedded videos and external links

Trailers and interviews on the Site are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, which means YouTube does not store information about you until you press play. Once a video plays, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies.

The Site links to other websites, including PBS, our broadcast partners and the stores where books are sold. Purchases are completed on those third-party sites, not here. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites, and we encourage you to read their policies.

6. Data retention

Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (14 months), after which it is automatically deleted.

7. Your choices and rights

You can limit data collection by disabling cookies, using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, or enabling your browser’s “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control settings. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to or deletion of personal information about you. Because we do not hold personal information that identifies you, most requests will relate to data held by Google; contact us and we will help where we can.

8. Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
